The two words I would use to describe my friend, Robért Leblanc, are gracious and grateful. Gracious, in the sense that he strives to give everyone in his life – family, friends and team members – his presence and attention, and grateful in the sense of honoring the special and important moments in his life that shape how he shows up in the world as a man, husband, father, friend and community leader.
Robért and his team at Leblanc+Smith have built a reputation of consistently developing warm and inviting experiences for visitors to New Orleans and locals alike. The Leblanc+Smith portfolio includes Sylvain, Meauxbar, Cavan, Longway, Barrel Proof and in August 2020, The Chloe. Each venue is chosen for the history and story behind the building or space as well as how that space will shape and influence the experience of the patrons who enjoy some of the best food, drink and ambiance the city of New Orleans has to offer.
Their vision statement is at once simple and compelling. They believe in improving the quality of people’s lives. They create excellent 21st Century Southern hospitality experiences that bring communities together safely to live joyful, fulfilling, and balanced lives and develop future hospitality leaders. That’s a bold statement that even the venerable Horst Schulze could very well get behind.
Their values only serve to support that vision: I See You, I Love You; Be Inspiring; Do Cool Shit and Stay Humble; Teach “Why”; Create Joy.
Ro and I talk about his team’s creative process, managing through difficult circumstances, parenthood, crafting a routine that sets you up for success and the importance of taking the road less traveled by.
